  • Overview

On Poppy's beach seashells I find. My bucket's filled with every kind. I keep the ones I like the best. To hide home in my treasure chest.

Come spend a sweet summer's day exploring and enjoying the curiosities and beauties of a rural Newfoundland beach, as seen through the eyes of a little child. Filled with beautiful illustrations and lyrical verse, here is a warm and happy adventure that is both uniquely Newfoundland - as well as universal in its celebration of nature, nostalgia and joyful childhood innocence.

Susan Pynn Taylor’s previous books include A Puppy Story, The Jelly Bean Row, and regional best-seller, The Colours of my Home.

  • About the Author

A native Newfoundlander, Susan Pynn Taylor is a professional writer with a background in marketing and communications. She has traveled throughout North America, but always finds her way back to her island home. Susan is a devoted wife and mother, with a love for children, literature, and nature. On Poppy’s Beach is her fourth book for young readers, following her success in 2007 with A Puppy Story (Creative, 2007), The Colours of my Home: A Portrait of Newfoundland and Labrador (Creative, 2007), and The Jelly Bean Row (Creative, 2011).

  • About the Illustrator

David Sturge is a graphic designer and illustrator who was born and raised in St. John's, Newfoundland where he currently resides. He studied commercial art and graphic design at The College of The North Atlantic (aka College of Trades and Technology for you guys from the 80's). David is very excited to work on this, his first illustration project for Tuckamore Books

  • Book Review

"While On Poppy’s Beach might be a fun read for a child on her/his own as the language is quite lively, I can also see this book being read together by grandparents and children who also share memories of days spent on the beach."

    Sae Yong Kim, CM Magazine
