  • Overview

Yaffle the seagull is fed up with the rain, drizzle, and fog in his home province of Newfoundland. He dreams about flying down south to the sunshine, but saddens at the thought of leaving all that he loves behind. So, one day Yaffle comes up with a surprising plan he thinks will solve his dilemma!

Yaffle’s Journey is the hilarious tale of the seagull who wants the best of both worlds and his ambitious plan to achieve it!

  • About the Author

Yaffle’s Journey is Nancy’s first book as author and her third illustrated collaboration with her daughter, Laurel, who brings Yaffle and his friends to life with warmth and humour. The main illustrator for this work, Laurel is an award-winning artist, talented floral arranger and world-class cookie designer. With a background in commercial art and writing, Nancy has illustrated several other children’s books. She and Laurel love to create picture books that appeal specifically to Newfoundland children.

  • Book Review

"The illustrations in the book, done entirely in coloured pencil, are vivid, evocative and extremely detailed, down to the patches on Yaffle’s backpack to the Tilt House Bakery gingerbread cookies he shares with his friends..."

    Tara Bradbury, The Telegram

"Hand drawn with coloured pencils, the images leap off the page with thier bright colours...This is a welcome addition to the picture books that celebrate Canada's unique provinces."

    Stephanie Johnson, Resource Links
