Against the Elements is about survival; surviving in the wilderness, working with the environment, surviving ‘against the elements'. In this book author Cyril Goodyear relates many of his personal hunting, camping, and fishing experiences in Newfoundland and Labrador's great outdoors.
Woven throughout are fireside stories and camping recipes as well as outdoor methods and survival techniques. These true stories are brought to life by a man who has spent a large portion of his life "Against the Elements".

About the Author
Cyril Goodyear
Cyril Goodyear is a man who loves the out-of-doors. Summer or winter, his favourite pastime is to set up camp almost anywhere in Newfoundland and Labrador's wilderness. Having served as a Newfoundland Ranger (later transferred to the RCMP), his initial exposure to nature came as an unwritten part of his job description.
In later years, as Provincial Court Judge, Chief Jude of the Provincial Court, Associate Deputy Minister Department of Rural, Agricultural, and Northern Development, Cyril always found time to get away from these high-pressure positions and return to nature.
