Lawrence Jackson was fascinated by the natural world. He grew up in the foothills of the Rockies, travelled extensively around the world, and lived near the sea in Newfoundland and Labrador for twenty-seven years. Although much of his life was spent writing on science and nature for adults, Lawrence was always eager to share with children his deep interest in "how things work." Besides feature stories in Canada's major periodicals, he wrote Newfoundland and Labrador for the Hello Canada series, and co-authored Reflections From A Snowhouse. Since his death in 1998, his wife and children have shared the goal of seeing this wonderful manuscript illustrated and published.
