Killick Press

Under its Killick Press imprint, the company pursues exceptional literary material which assists it in fulfilling its cultural mandate. Its literary genres include poetry, fiction, drama, creative non-fiction, belles, lettres, essays, feminist literature and fine art production.

A "killick" is a homemade anchor, usually consisting of a large, elongated stone within a framework of wooden sticks. The materials, though readily available, are chosen for their weight, strength and flexibility, and are constructed with practicality and craftsmanship. We chose the killick as the imprint for our literary books both because it is unique to Newfoundland, and as a symbol of the way Killick Press books are chosen and crafted.
